John C. Schrott, III, AIA, ACHA
President
Mr. Schrott joined IKM in 1982 and serves as President of IKM. He recently has gained admission to an elite group of Certified Healthcare Architects through a board certification process into the American College of Healthcare Architects. In addition to his extensive experience in health care projects, Mr. Schrott has a sub-specialty in master planning including master facility planning, site planning, and space relocation studies. Mr. Schrott received his Bachelor of Architecture (with honors) from Carnegie Mellon University and is a Registered Architect in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Mr. Schrott has recently completed work for the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine, and the Lancaster Women and Babies' Hospital and the new Orthopedic Hospital Addition for Lancaster General Hospital.

 

Jeffrey K. Brown, AIA, NCARB
Principal
Mr. Brown joined the firm in 1983 and is a Principal of IKM Incorporated. He has over twenty-three years of architecture experience. During his tenure, he has served as project manager and principal for many of IKM's healthcare and education clients. Mr. Brown graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 1980, is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), and is a registered architect in the state of Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, Ohio and West Virginia; he also holds National Council of Architectural Registration Boards Certification (NCARB). His recent experience includes projects for Allegheny General Hospital, Canonsburg General Hospital and Charles Cole Memorial Hospital; as well as the Slippery Rock University Science Building.

 

Joel Bernard, AIA
Principal
Mr. Bernard began his professional career in 1984. He is a graduate of Williams College, and holds a professional degree from the Boston Architectural Center, College of Architecture. He is registered to practice in Pennsylvania and is active in the American Institute of Architects, serving in the past on the Advisory Committee for the Pittsburgh Chapter. Mr. Bernard has been a board member for the Pace School since 1993, has served as Board Chair and sits on its Executive, Long Range Planning and Endowment Committees. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of The Frick Art & Historical Center. He has worked on a broad range of project types, including education, corporate, banking, commercial, healthcare and housing. His current project responsibilities include management of the new additions to the Phipps Conservatory & Botanical Gardens, Colfax School Addition, Commonwealth Technology Center, and several complex data center facilities. In addition to project management responsibilities, Mr. Bernard oversees the financial operations of the firm.

 

Roger Hartung, AIA
Principal
Mr. Hartung brings extensive experience in the architectural practice encompassing areas of design, management, administration and production. He has significant experience with many of the firm's large capital projects including the reuse of the Richardson Allegheny County Jail, the Hillman Cancer Center, and current modifications to the Forbes Regional campus of the West Penn Allegheny Health System. His project management knowledge contributes to the overall quality of our project document coordination with consultants and subcontractors as well as helps to guide information technology at IKM enhancing service delivery to our clients. Mr. Hartung obtained his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Carnegie Mellon University and is a registered architect in Pennsylvania and Illinois. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects, Pittsburgh Chapter. Mr. Hartung volunteers his time as a member of the Upper St. Clair Parks and Recreation Board.

 

Michael McDonnell, AIA
Principal
Mr. McDonnell has completed a variety of technically complex projects for institutional clients. Most recently he has completed a $68 million Orthopedic Center addition for Lancaster General Hospital and a specialty hospital for Women's & Babies Hospital of Lancaster. Other clients currently being served by Mr. McDonnell include: The Reading Hospital and Medical Center, Reading, PA; Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, PA; Shamokin Area Community Hospital, Coal Township, PA; and Lock Haven University, Lock Haven, PA. In addition to his project management & design responsibilities, Mr. McDonnell, AIA, assumes responsibility for the firm's Human Resources and Staff Development. He is an Honors Graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, School of Architecture and is a committed member of the community in Upper St. Clair; volunteering his time and expertise to the USC Planning Commission, Development Committee for the Township's Environmental Education Center, and currently serving as Chairman for the USC Building & Fire Codes Appeals & Advisory Board.
