The front entry retreats from the street as a concave motor court that invites both vehicles and pedestrians through an elegant walled garden approach to the building. Guests can be dropped off before proceeding to the adjacent garage or a new Valet Service is available to speed entry into the facility. The existing garage is faced screened with a new screen wall that mimics the exterior language of the Orthopedic Center and extends the new unifying architecture across the south end of the campus. New towers anchor the entry and make visual reference to other historic civic buildings in the community.
The building entrance is a four-story atrium bathed in natural light, and clothed with natural materials including marble and cherry. A new bridge sweeps through a stand of structural column trees, connecting the Orthopedic Center with the older hospital. Opposite the front door an interior water wall offers allure and retreat as a screen separating the atrium from a new Chapel and Meditation area. Other lobby amenities include concierge service, gift shop, reception desk, player grand piano, patient resource center, gracious seating and gourmet café. This new lobby serves as the gateway for both the Orthopedic Center and the Hospital.
